The ECF4CLIM Roadmap

Our ECF is structured as a Roadmap, designed to provide practical tools for different stakeholders to map, strengthen, and foster the enablers of sustainability, as well as to identify and address existing constraints across diverse educational contexts.

Following an extensive process of co-design, testing, and validation, the validated version of the ECF Roadmap has now been released. This version builds on the results of the ECF4CLIM crowdsourcing activities, document analysis, and literature review, and reflects feedback gathered through real-world application in educational settings.

The ECF Roadmap is a practical and evidence-based document that describes the essential individual and collective competencies, enablers, and constraints involved in improving the environmental performance of educational institutions. It is grounded in the sustainability competencies outlined in GreenComp, which it further develops and contextualizes for educational practice.

To support uptake and strategic implementation, the release of the validated Roadmap is accompanied by a Policy Brief, which synthesizes key messages and recommendations and prepares the ground for dialogue with decision-makers and institutional leaders. Together, these documents aim to support informed action and longer-term integration of sustainability within education systems.
