Environmental Protection or Humanity Protection? Which One Is It?

September 21, 2024 Nora Kovesd

Let’s start with a question: When does something or someone need protection?

The answer is simple—when it’s weaker or more vulnerable than something else.

Now, think about the relationship between the environment and humanity. Who’s the weaker one here? Is it the environment or us?

The answer might surprise you—it’s not the environment.

Here’s why: Earth and the environment existed long before humans came around, and it will probably still be here if humanity disappears. However, our survival depends on the health of the environment. The Earth doesn’t need us to survive, but we absolutely need it.

The environment naturally strives for balance. But if we cause irreversible damage, we’re the ones who will face serious problems. That’s why it’s crucial for us to avoid harming the planet in ways it can’t recover from.

Unfortunately, many people only focus on their immediate needs and ignore the bigger picture. That’s why it’s so important to raise awareness and remind everyone that by protecting the environment, we’re really protecting ourselves and our future. Environmental protection isn’t just about saving the planet—it’s about saving humanity.
