ECF4CLIM 5th General Assembly: A Week of Collaboration, Innovation, and Impact in Tampere

The fifth General Assembly of the ECF4CLIM project was successfully held in Finland, organized by the University of Jyväskylä at Aito toimintakeskus, in  with insightful visits to demonstration sites in Tampere. This pivotal event brought together partners, stakeholders, and experts for a dynamic and collaborative week focused on evaluating progress, exchanging ideas, and shaping the future of climate change education across Europe.

The meeting kicked off with field visits to two ECF4CLIM demonstration schools that are implementing groundbreaking educational interventions:

Juhannuskylä School: Participants were introduced to the school’s multidisciplinary week, highlighting hands-on interventions and engaging classroom activities focused on climate education. A field visit allowed attendees to witness firsthand how climate-related competences are being fostered at the student level.

SAMKE Secondary School: Here, the group explored how sustainability is integrated into the school’s curriculum and daily routines. From environmentally conscious school lunches to technical and material sustainability measures, the visit showcased a holistic approach to embedding climate values in education.

An World Café session was organized with the participation of researchers, teachers and principals,  engaging in group work as part of WP6 (Evaluation). Discussions were focused on:

Preliminary reflections on the impact of educational interventions on individual and collective competences as well as environmental performance.

Early insights into the overall evaluation of the ECF4CLIM project’s effectiveness and transformative potential.

A special session was dedicated to Interactive Engagement and Testing Tools:

The newly developed ECF4CLIM Roadmap Escape Game was introduced, offering an engaging way to explore the project’s strategic evolution—from the initial roadmap to the final version—through interactive group work.

As part of WP7, participants also tested digital flipbooks and mini-games, tools designed to enhance climate education through innovative digital learning methods.

The Assembly featured a policy-making workshop, where participants translated project insights into actionable policy recommendations to support sustainable education reform across Europe.

A highlight of the week was the Best Intervention Award Video Gala, recognizing outstanding interventions developed within the project. The celebratory atmosphere underscored the creativity and commitment of educators and students alike.

The event concluded with feedback from the ECF4CLIM Advisory Board, presentation of group results, and an open discussion to refine strategies and strengthen collaboration moving forward. The 5th General Assembly marked a significant milestone for ECF4CLIM, reaffirming the importance of participatory, evidence-based, and innovative approaches to education for climate action. As the project moves into its final phases, the insights and momentum generated in Tampere will continue to inspire transformative change across European schools.
